Here's how to take control!
I premiered this presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last fall. It received a remarkable response and the festival has now put it on YouTube for a worldwide audience.
In 2009, Thom Powers, TIFF's head of documentary programming, invited me to deliver a Declaration of Independence at the festival that ushered in a new era of hybrid distribution. In 2023, Thom asked me to return with a cutting-edge presentation to empower filmmakers with the latest strategies.
My goal was to explain what documentary filmmakers need to know now to survive and hopefully thrive. The presentation covers:
